Lady Friend was already a fixture of the property when Cedar Rise Estate was founded in Fall 2025. This beautiful tabby is part of the local community cat population, and while she’s never asked to come inside, she’s very much become part of our extended family.

The Original Resident

When we arrived at Cedar Rise, Lady Friend was here first. She watched our moving trucks with cautious curiosity from the edge of the yard, and has been observing our progress ever since. In many ways, she’s the one who welcomed us to the neighborhood.

A Wild Spirit

Lady Friend embodies the spirit of the Pacific Northwest wilderness that surrounds Cedar Rise. She comes and goes as she pleases, patrolling her territory with confidence, sharing the grounds with the deer, raccoons, and other wildlife that call this place home.

Building Trust

What started as wary glances from a distance has grown into something special. Lady Friend now waits by the back door around mealtimes, calling out with her distinctive meows. She communicates in the subtle language of cats — slow blinks that say “I trust you,” leisurely yawns that show she feels safe, and grooming sessions while we’re nearby that reveal her growing comfort in our presence.

Petting isn’t on the menu yet, but in the world of community cats, these small gestures mean everything. Each slow blink is a gift, each relaxed moment in our company a sign that trust is building, one patient day at a time.

An Outdoor Life

We always offer Lady Friend warmth and shelter during harsh weather, but she prefers her freedom. The cedars, the open sky, and the wild spaces between our neighbors’ homes are her domain. We’re just grateful she’s chosen to share part of her life with us.
